Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. Many people believe that it is an island to the west of Montreal however the West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief time in the city did not last long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. Her initial ambition was to become an actress, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance along with her. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school which pushed her in the right direction. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Master of Fine Arts at York University. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work has been featured on both the large and small screen. She gained the most recognition when she landed her role as Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian actor.
